Your payment frequency will depend on the payment schedule set by the recruitment agency or end client. Continue reading to find out how often you’ll be paid by an umbrella company.
How often will I be paid by an umbrella company?
When you register with an umbrella company, they become your employer and will process your payroll. Your net salary will be paid according to a pre-agreed payment frequency outlined in your assignment schedule. Churchill Knight Umbrella does not set the payment schedule; we follow the payment frequency set by your recruitment agency or end client. Most commonly, contractors get paid weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
Churchill Knight Umbrella runs payroll multiple times daily, five days a week, and operates Same Day Faster Payments. Once we have received the funds from your agency or end client, we will make the appropriate tax deductions and make a net payment to your bank account.
If you are unsure how often you will be paid by an umbrella company, please speak to their payroll department. Once you have registered, the end client or recruitment agency will provide your umbrella company with their payment terms and frequency, and the umbrella company can let you know how often you will be paid.
What is the process to get paid by an umbrella company?
It is a straightforward process to get paid by an umbrella company. Here’s how the process typically works:
- You submit the hours you have worked or a timesheet to the umbrella company each week/month.*
- The umbrella company will invoice the end client or recruitment agency for the hours you have worked.
- The agency or end client will send the funds to the umbrella company for the hours you have worked.
- The umbrella company will process your pay via Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and send the tax to HMRC on your behalf.
- You will be paid a net amount into your bank account, and you will also receive a payslip detailing the deductions made.
- Every Churchill Knight Umbrella employee also receives a payslip audit report from Payslip Buddy (powered by SafeRec) every time they are paid. This allows you to check that the payments and deductions made are compliant and legal.
*It is important to note that only some contractors must submit a timesheet or the hours worked to the umbrella company. This will depend on your agency or end clients’ requirements. However, if you are not required to submit a timesheet to the umbrella company, you may still be required to submit one to your agency or end client.
