We hope you are enjoying the summer of sport. The Euros are in full swing and Wimbledon will begin in less than a week. As a contractor, you have the freedom and flexibility to choose your working hours and locations, giving you more time to enjoy the things you love.
To help you enjoy the added free time you have, we want to share our tips on when to watch the matches and how to enjoy them in true Wimbledon style. So read on to find out when Wimbledon starts, when the must-see matches take place and how to host a Wimbledon party.
Dress Code:
To get into the spirit of Wimbledon, insist on a dress code that suits the occasion. Ask your guests to attend in all white outfits, comfy trainers and even suggest they bring a tennis racket as an additional accessory.
Food:
We would suggest a quintessentially English menu. For an option you can prepare easily in advance, why not lay out a table with cold cut meats, cheese and a variety of dips, bread and crackers.
Alternatively, think finger sandwiches of salmon and cream cheese, cucumber and cheese, egg and cress and coronation chicken. All washed down with a cup of tea or a glass of champagne to make your event a little more glamorous.
For sweet treats, scones with jam and clotted cream will accompany the sandwiches nicely, but no Wimbledon party would be complete without strawberries and cream. This simple combination is a classic around this time of year and is very easy to make; simply hull your strawberries and whip up some cream for your guests to dip their berries into.
Drinks:
Pimm’s, of course. Take a few jugs, plenty of ice and combine with a variety of fruits. The traditional choice would be strawberries, apple, cucumber and mint but you can add any berries you like or have in the fridge. Top the fruit with a ratio of one part Pimm’s and two parts lemonade. Stir together and serve in a highball glass.
Decoration:
Deck out your house or garden (if the weather permits an outdoor party) with bunting and streamers. These will add a simple touch of elegance and brightness to your party whether it rains or shines.
