Question: Why must a contractor keep all receipts at their limited company’s registered address?
Answer: If HMRC wish to inspect a company or investigate their expense claims, then they will visit the company’s registered address. It is therefore advised that you keep all receipts at the registered address in case of an inspection.
Companies House advise that you must inform them if you are keeping records somewhere other than at your company’s registered office address. Failure to do so may result in a penalty being received.
