Important Changes To Companies House Fees You Should Be Aware Of

Companies House has announced that it will increase fees from the 1st of May 2024. The new costs affect incorporation, a change of name, re-registration of a company, confirmation statements, and other services. Our latest article outlines the changes to Companies House fees you should know.

Why are Companies House increasing their fees?

Companies House review their fees annually to ensure they’re set at the right level as they are determined on a cost recovery basis. This means the fees must cover the cost of their services, and they do not profit from the fees charged.

A spokesperson for Companies House said: “We’re amending our fees to bring them in line with the costs of providing our services but also to recover the costs of our new powers being introduced through the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.

“This will enable the cost of investigative and enforcement activities that promote the integrity of the register, maintain a healthy business environment and combat economic crime, to be met through fees.”

The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act allows Companies House to play a more significant role in supporting economic growth and tackling crime. The act’s introduction is to provide more accurate and trusted information on the Companies House registers and improve transparency.

As a result of the new act, there will be new responsibilities for:

  • All new and existing company directors
  • People with significant control of a company (PSCs)
  • Anyone who files on behalf of a company

Please visit the government’s website to find out what’s changing as part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.
