Compliant payroll for drivers
Churchill Knight Umbrella’s driver payroll service is the easiest way for HGV or van drivers to get paid efficiently and compliantly.
Please continue reading to learn how our driver service works and its benefits. If you would like to find out more information or request a tailored take-home pay calculation, please send us a message or call our friendly team on 01707 871622.
How does our umbrella service for drivers work?
Our Driver’s service works very similarly to our PAYE umbrella service, with the added protection of Driver Negligence Insurance.
We’ve created a short overview summarising the roles of you (the contractor), us (Churchill Knight Umbrella), and your recruitment agency or client:
- Register with Churchill Knight Umbrella by calling our friendly Sales Consultants on 01707 871622. During the registration call, you will also receive a tailored take-home pay calculation, and it is a great opportunity to ask questions about the service. You can also complete our online registration form, and a team member will call you back to complete the sign-up process.
- Your client or recruitment agency will enter into an agreement with Churchill Knight Umbrella, and each party will sign a contract agreeing to the terms of the business relationship.
- Once you’ve registered with Churchill Knight Umbrella, you will receive a welcome email explaining the following steps to complete to ensure you are set up and ready to be paid.
- To ensure Churchill Knight Umbrella can legally pay you, you must provide the following documents: a signed contract of employment and driver negligence statement, a copy of a recent P45 or a completed Starter Checklist for PAYE, proof of your identity and right to work in the UK, and a copy of the front and back of your driver’s licence.
- You will then complete your work, as usual, for your client. You may be required to submit the hours you have worked to Churchill Knight Umbrella using the My Digital portal or mobile app. You will be sent login information when you register. Not all recruitment agencies or clients require you to submit a timesheet to the umbrella company. However, you may still be required to submit one to your agency or client.
- Once your timesheet has been approved, Churchill Knight Umbrella will invoice your agency or end client.
- Your agency or client will send the funds to Churchill Knight Umbrella for the hours you’ve worked.
- Churchill Knight Umbrella will make the relevant tax deductions and send them to HMRC on your behalf before making a net payment into your bank account. Your payslip will be available via My Digital.
- You will receive a payslip audit report from Payslip Buddy (powered by SafeRec) each time you are paid. This report is free of charge and allows you to check that we are paying you compliantly and correctly.
