Registering with Churchill Knight Umbrella is an easy process and we’re here to support you every step of the way. The information below will explain the registration process and what you need to do to be successfully set up and ready to be paid by us. We have done everything possible to ensure our registration process is as streamlined as it can be, because we understand you are busy and want to get set up as quickly as possible.
Please be aware that the information we ask from you is a legal requirement, and must be done in accordance with HMRC rules and regulations. Every compliant umbrella company will ask you for the same information.
A short summary of the umbrella company registration process
Once you have completed the online registration form, or signed up over the phone, you’ll be sent some emails with important information. In order for us to legally pay you, we need you to read the emails and follow the instructions. This will include providing us with important documentation, including ID, P45 (or New Worker Checklist) and a signed Contract of Employment.
Once we have received all the documentation and information we need from you, your registration will be complete. It’s important that you read every email, because they each have important information enclosed. Look out the for email with a link to our official ‘Welcome’ web page. This page includes information on submitting timesheets, understanding your payslip, pensions, and more. You must read this page when you get a moment, as it includes all the information you need to be paid without complication.

The registration process in more detail
We’ve summarised the registration process above, but keep reading for more information about the procedures involved.
Firstly, if you’re ready to join Churchill Knight Umbrella, please complete the short online registration form – available here, or give our friendly team a call now on 01707 871622.
Uploading Important Documentation
When you have registered via the online form or over the phone, you will receive more information (via email) about how to provide us with the documentation we need to complete the sign-up process.
To legally pay you, we must have:
- Proof of your identity – passport or ID card.
- P45 – a copy of your P45, or a completed copy of the New Worker Checklist (available here) if you do not have a P45. If you need to complete the New Worker Checklist, you will need to save it to your computer when complete, and then send the completed version to us. Failure to provide us with either of these documents is likely to result in you being emergency taxed.
- Right to Work – if you are a non-UK national, we will require proof of your right to work in the UK.
Please note: When you upload a photograph (or photographs) of your ID and important documentation, we must be able to clearly see all four corners. The image below will show you what we can and cannot accept.
Churchill Knight Umbrella cannot legally process your pay until we have the documentation above.
Keep a close eye on your inbox
Churchill Knight Umbrella will send you some emails with more information about completing the registration process. Don’t worry – you won’t need to do much. However, we ask that you read the emails thoroughly and follow the instructions.
Contract of Employment
You will be emailed your Contract of Employment. Please read this thoroughly and when you’re happy, sign it using DocuSign and return to us. This is easy and the information you need is provided in the email.
Our ‘Welcome’ web page for new clients
To make your life easier, we’ve consolidated all of the information you need about our umbrella company in one web page. You will be sent the link shortly after registering online or over the phone.
The ‘Welcome’ web page will explain the following:
- How to provide us with the documentation we need to complete your registration process.
How to submit your timesheets. - How to use our online portal (you will receive login details in a separate email).
- How to interpret your payslip, along with an example payslip you can download, for your reference.
- When you will be paid.
- Important information regarding your pension, and how to opt out of it, if you would prefer.
- How to benefit from our exciting referral scheme.
- Information on the FCSA, and why you have made the right decision choosing an umbrella company that is FCSA accredited.

Our registration process has been designed to be as straightforward as possible, while ensuring we gather all the legal information needed to process your payroll (PAYE) in accordance with HMRC rules and regulations.
